When two BCD numbers 0x14 and 0x08 are added what is the binary representation of the resultant number?

  • A. 0x22
  • B. 0x1C
  • C. 0x16
  • D. Results in overflow

Answer: A. 0x22

Explanation: BCD addition: 14 + 08. 4+8=12 (C in hex). Since 12 > 9, add 6. 12+6 = 18 (10010, which is 1 2 in hex digits). So 1 carry, 2 sum. The tens digit: 1 + 0 + 1(carry) = 2. Result 22.
